Sounding Off!!!

Okay, I have had it with some media shitt, so I am sounding off.!!!

First on the list is Mayor (I forgot I was a Democrat, so I could talk shitt) Bloomberg

The balance sheets are what he was referring to. And then we have this gem.

"Nobody wants to sit there and say, 'Well there's no easy solution,"' Bloomberg said. "They want to send out a check to everybody to stimulate the economy. I suppose it won't hurt the economy but it's in many senses like giving a drink to an alcoholic."

Well, WTF is up with that, Mayor? This is the root of all entitlement programs You Democrats want to “give the people.” You know, make it an even playing field, even if they don’t want to work for it and ride my income coat tails. Bush has been pandering to you asshats for 8 years expanding the entitlements, and NOW you complain? FY. While I’m at it, don’t forget your proverbial ball wearing Senator who wanted to give sanctuary and licenses to the I-2s… (Illegal immigrants--I want to write I-squared with the number two, but it ain’t happening). Indeed, let’s just keep sucking our economy dry because the entitlement programs let the lazy assses in this Country sit back like snobs and not take on the jobs that the I-2s will do. I am so damned sick and tired of those people thinking that because they get money from the government that it exempts them from doing manual labor. Stop the hand-outs and see how fast they get off their candy asses so they can eat. And if they don’t, TFB for them. I am just done with the victim mindset. Get the F*** over it and try some blood, sweat and tears like the rest of us.

And, for the record, the economy is only as bad as your budget…so get over that, Paul Krugman and every other damn democrat who WANTS this Country to become a communist nation. It won’t happen as long as there is breath in me.

Second…The ABC Show Good Morning America

Oh, Mike Adams is sure to write a column on this…Eve Ensler asked Jane Fonda to do a part in her “Vagina Monologues.” The Act name is the vulgar word for a woman’s reproductive “font” if you will. She said the word C***, live on the air. Yeah, so what, it was the name of the act. But in NOT apologizing for Fonda’s using the word , Ensler said, “ We want to make that word beautiful again.” Holy fu**ing shitt batman!

When has that word ever been beautiful??? It is demeaning, nasty and abhorrent when it comes the description of a woman’s genitalia. I mean, give ME a frigging break, here.!!! The people reading this who know me, know I love a good f-bomb and I have used plenty in my rant this morning, but make the c word beautiful again??? Is there no end to the Femi-Nazi quest of men hating? That IS how I see it.

Those FN women wanted to be equal to men…and now, what do they have? Nothing but those nice fat little careers, sports cars and fancy clothes. Was it worth giving up your ability to let a man be a man to take care of yourself and not have children? Are you pining away for what you don’t have? Maybe you should have thought just a little harder. So, they are blaming men for their own proverbial balls and the fact that sex had become just an act. Isn’t that what they wanted? Independence and free love, no strings? Well, I hope those male bashing bittches are happy, because it isn’t about the men. Now FN, get out the mirror and see if you can solve the problem.

Write it in???


                                              Will your vote be counted?


Okay, since I said I am considering writing in my vote and I want it to be counted, here’s the deal. I live in NC. And there are rules that apply. (Damn rules). So here we go and here’s hoping I can steer some of you in the right direction,.

First and foremost: The Primary for NC is to be held May 6th, 2008.

Any person on the primary ballot who is defeated is not allowed to be written in for the General Election for the same office that year.

An example: Edwards is out, (buuutt, just for shitts and grins)…Edwards is defeated in the primary run for office of President in NC then, he cannot be written in to be voted for as President and the vote cannot be counted.

There are several requirements for a General Election and the writing in of a candidate.

Under NC GS(general statute) 163-123:

1. File a declaration of intent with the State Board of Elections and it must contain :

(a) Applicant's name,

(b) Applicant's residential address,

(c) Declaration of applicant's intent to be a write-in candidate,

(d) Title of the office sought,

(e) Date of the election,

(f) Date of the declaration,

(g) Applicant's signature.

2. Apparently, one must also file a petition for the write-in candidate and should contain the following at the top of the page in bold and Capital letters, mind- and on all subsequent pages  to be signed:


"THE UNDERSIGNED REGISTERED VOTERS IN __________ COUNTY HEREBY PETITION ON BEHALF OF AS A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE IN THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION. THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY PETITION THAT SUBJECT CANDIDATE BE PLACED ON THE LIST OF QUALIFIED WRITE-IN CANDIDATES WHOSE VOTES ARE TO BE COUNTED AND RECORDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH G.S. 163-123."



The GS does specify that for state, local or district levels, there must be a certain number of eligible voters signatures on the petition, but doesn’t specify the office of President in the General election, unless I just don’t get legal jargon. The minimum number of voters was listed as 100.

I have put in a call to the NC State Board of Elections to ask my questions, and if necessary for my vote to be counted, I will go ahead and declare, petition for signers and then get my way. Nothing worth doing is ever easy, but somehow the personal satisfaction I will have is enough. I got it in me to show the GOP how much they should be embracing the suck…Actions equal consequences, and this will be mine. I may only be one, but at least I can say I didn’t sit out or cast a suicide vote. I don't know about other states, if you write it in, it may not be counted and that would REALLY suck.

Who would have thought??

An aside, here. Sort of. At my son’s scout meeting we actually had a great discussion (the Parents) about the choices facing us in the elections. A couple of recurring things that I noticed:


**People are deathly afraid of Hilary Care. I personally don’t think it’s gonna really get off the ground should she make it to office.
 

    **The Supreme Court Justices are a huge concern as we have seen in the junior blogging circuit…


    **All of us would not be voting for McCain, or at least, that is what was said. The statement was made that we would “die” a slower death if he were elected as opposed to Obama.
     

    **The other thing, that has totally escaped me-- Several of the guys, ( I was the only woman) mentioned that there was no way either Obama or Hitlary would withdraw from Iraq at this point of “success” because once in office, neither of them would want to be “losers.” Of course, should that happen, they could always blame Bush. 

    **Lastly, can someone educate me on Super Delegates, and Brokered Convention? I have heard these things bandied about several times and I don’t understand.

So what say you, my friends? Agree, disagree? New thoughts or just tired of it all?

Musings

Okay, so I was on vacation in Europe...yeah, Craw, I am a b-itch, but a really happy one at that. It was a great time for the hubby and I. This is our place to be "us." I have to say that sometimes I could kick myself for not being as happy as this all the time, but a martyr I am not. As much as I love my children, and would do whatever it takes to make them happy, I am selfish. I have not one ounce of guilt for being gone ten days, and no way did I miss them. I knew they were safe and that was all I needed to get on that plane.  At any rate, I made a few observations, friends,skied, apres-skied(enough said!!) and now I am going to share....

 I heard...  "Oh! You're on vacation, what about your elections?" Perhaps, over in the UK they only learn what the MSM tells them about the election process? Unless you are "our guys" from the BergSchloss, with whom we have very intelligent conversations with...and I even get a lesson in pronunciation about  "is it your 'aousss' (sounds like asss) or is it your 'house" emphasis on the 'h'). John said, "Me asss is fine and so is my 'ousss'!!which also sounds like asss!!) We had a great laugh. Missed Lew and Bill- as Bill went to Disneyland Paris and Lew left the day before we arrived.  Next year, boys...Jacksy's awaits! And here they are!! (l-r Billy, Stewart, Pete, a wife, John, and Pete's brother John who gives diction lessons to me!!)

Totally amazed (NOT!!) "I love Hilary Clinton.(But, says I, what do you  like about her? A conversation ensues and then...she really blows it. "But HE only did it once!" What f-ing planet are you on is what I am thinking. Instead I say, "Would you let your betrothed do it only once? I could help if you like...see that gal over there...Well, I didn't do that. Her betrothed raised a glass to me. that cute little Irishman. My better half and he had a nice chat as well. But this guy was a lit 'ul bit smahtah than 'is loove,hey?

The Two Best T-shirts seen: worn by a guy who was part of a group: Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!!  Spew alert!!  "Dip me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians!!" Oh how I love the humor of the British!!! Does anyone reading this know the Black Adder tv show??
Also worn by the same group: "The UK Paralytic Ski Team...Not a leg to stand on. ( And, it was all about the Apres-ski...but me being single-minded and having run the Army Ten-miler with Iraq Veteran amputees(who BTW, kicked my butt with one or two prosthetics...I droned on about how awesome they were for learning to ski as paralytics...Can you say,"Here's your sign,Nee?" Boy did we have a serious laugh with those guys and gals!!

Best of the Best Apres-ski...Oh man, can those British boys let loose!! The ratio of men to women is very high, at least this may be the first I've noticed....But, friends Richard, Paul, Anish and Dan were all about "First Night Syndrome"  I arrived early to grab a table at the KK (Krazy Kangaruh) while my better half fit in an extra ski run. Dan and I chatted and he offered me some 'chips'(fries). next thing you know his other friends arrive and so does my better half. We meet, greet and then proceed to 'Apres-ski'. The boys ordered shot after shot of a Flugeryl(floogrel) and offered us two each, each time they arrived!! I don't do beer, but a shot or two is alright....Anish had FNS wicked bad!! He proceeded to take three shots and throw them back simultaneously. It went on until his skin (ski shirt layer) in beer and shots. He said, "ah cont meet any gahls this way." and bought himself a KK shirt.  ACHTUNG,BABY!!  A few more and he ripped the brand new shirt with his teeth right in half!! We were laughing so hard, we could have wet our pants. I thought maybe I could help, since that is what he wanted to do...I had no strength for the rip-stop in that shirt.  I made a joke that I should try with my teeth....Never joke thinking you won't be believed!!! Next thing we know, Anish is taking a lighter to the shirt. Now mind, he was absolutely an adorable and funny single bachelor who works hard and plays harder...His boys knew the time had come to get him down the mountain before the unspeakable were to occur. They done good. We were on our way as well...It's a great ski down in the twilight, when the snow machines are going and the runs are semi-groomed....We saw them several times and each time was a pleasure. They were very nice guys on a guys weekend away...Thanks for the memories (and the keychain!!) But it was absolutely the best of Apre-skiing in my opinion!!

Best Conversation in regard to American politics was with a Swede named Leif Erikson. (I kid you not!!) A very pleasant  man, impressed by my deutsche speaking ability...we talked about many things and his daughter will be going to Afghanistan. He said he believed in the war. He feared for his daughter,obviously, but who wouldn't?
He seemed to teeter on wanting to give up the fight, but the more we chatted, the more we talked about how safe we really were and how many people just don't seem to understand that. As he pointed out, "Here we are at Base Camp (name of the bar), and we don't have to worry about a thing." He dislikes the social systems and greatly so. Surprisingly, this theme and a few others were common among the people we met.  I gather then, that he might vote to the right!

Popular Songs...Well., we heard CCR's -Down on the Corner, Rolling Stones- Satisfaction, Supertramp- Give a little Bit, Van Morrison- Brown-eyed Girl, Lynard Skynard- Sweet Home Alabama, Don McClean- American Pie and some other more recent tunes...Robbie Wiliams- Let me Entertain You, Angels, and um, oh yeah!! 500 Miles- it gets everyone singing as do the others....At the KK they played less than stellar tunes this year...I mean, I didn't even get to dance OTT but once, wah!!! And that is because my hubby paid Emilie to play the song 18 til I die.  Several years in a row I have made a "vacation cd" and this year...not gonna do it. As a music fan, nothing stood out that would put me back into ski mode should i hear it...which is really a bummer. So now, I am gonna mess with your head and tell you that when you hear U2 " Where the Streets Have no Name" or Coldplay's "Yellow"  just picture Nee living it up and going on vacation in her mind.... even my kids will say "Hey,that's the St Anton Video song!!"  Swoosh!!

Miscellaneous...Immigration problems were discussed as the natives of not only the US, but Sweden, Ireland, the UK, and Germany seem to be afraid that the cultures they know will disappear. It was mentioned alot in the conversations we had with the people we met. One guy runs a factory and complained that the only people he could hire were French Algerians, Polish, and the like. But it was because the Brits wanted more money than he could afford. And, get this. If you are there on a working permit from another Country and you have children(who are NOT with you) you still get a stipend for them from the government. WTF is up with that??? OOOh, sorry!! It's that damn socialism again, isn't it?? Dan said his parents recently were in America and loved it. The way things are done, you get ahead. In the UK, many times you bust  asss and still cannot get ahead for all the taxes they pay to f-ing subsidize those who won't work!!! Argh! I have to stop there or a rant is surely coming!! I mean, Dan is 38 and worrying how his own children will be able to afford a house when they get in to the world and thinking he will 'have' to help them. We've got it, good, people! Did I forget to mention how cheap gas really is compared to  what they pay abroad??? Just a friendly reminder for the whiners out in the world. If gas is so expensive it is crunching your budget, stop buying  your daily lattes and   weekly manicures.  it'll buy you at least 13 gallons of petrol, hey? A gallon of gas equals  3.8 liters (rounded )The price you see is per liter. So, it's 6.60 a gallon US currency after converting the euro rate.. We pay (here in NC) today- $ 2.89/gallon.

Another concern that was bought up were the Russians who seemed to be everywhere and trying to flaunt money and power. I personally don't believe they got very far. In fact, I am sure many local businesses refused them board by claiming that they had no more rooms available.  Whenever they were around we just kept silent or ignored them. One night, after seeing their shitt behaviors, I almost spoke up. They thought it was funny to toast each other and smash the beer glasses to the ground where people were dancing. It pisssed me off more than I can say. This is the one time I held back for safety's sake. But, man!! The disrespect just drove me to drink, haha.


Alas, a great vacation!! I am recharged, in love, happy to be home and looking forward to the other adventures that might catch up with me/us.

Scumbag Lawyer Arrested!!

Okay, guys. Our Marine who needed back-up got it big time. There were many offers from some good guys who said they would gladly defend Sgt McNulty pro-bono. People offered to buy his car, fix it, and more. How awesome is that ?? Turns out that good does in fact triumph over evil...
On with the story...As you know, the punk lawyer showed up late the first time and asked for a continuance. (shittbird!) Since a Marine is never left behind there were some hoorah
 boys lending moral support the first day.  The trial date was for today, January 18th, 2008, 1330 hours.

The case was called before the judge at 1333 hrs. Surprise, fukking surprise! Scumbag lawyer Grodner was wussing out, whining in a phone call to the court that he was waiting for the media to leave at 1340. (Sing it with me now, aaaand the lawyer who's a dick screamed Wah! Wah! wah! wah! wah! wah! all through the town)

He was booked upon his arrival!!! The judge runs a tight ship. (Can I get an amen, here?) Read the update from wp91 that was posted at Blackfive below....(My comments in blue)

The update: At 1400 hours the defendant showed up, and was told that he was half an hour late. The Judge stated on the record that the defendant had done the same thing during the previous court date, and he said that the defendant called and said that wanted to wait for the media to leave. The Judge said "That is not the way I run my courtroom." He increased the bail and took him into custody(Hell yeah, he did !!) and told him to try and work out a deal with the State. About 25-35 marines and assorted military were there. (Sa-weet!!)

The case was recalled at 14:22, and the State said that the defendant had asked for permission to put his belt and such back on. The Judge said, "Treat him like all the other prisoners." The defendant was brought out and the plea deal that they had worked out was entered into the record.

The Judge asked him if he had committed the specific acts he was accused of. The defendant hemmed and hawed, and the Judge raised his voice to make him say yes or no. The defendant agreed, and the Judge read the facts into the record. Several times, the Judge said if there were no deal, he would be given a court date just like any other defendant, and he could try and make bail soon.

The deal: 1 year Social Service Supervision, restitution of 600 dollars to be paid to Social Services and which would go to the Injured Marine Semper Fi fund, to be paid by February 25th, 2008, and $50/month in supervision fees.

The Judge then, in as angry a voice as I have ever heard him use, scolded the defendant, saying that the Marine license plates the complaining witness had were not vanity plates or about ego, but the proceeds go toward the Marine and Navy scholarship fund for the children of fallen soldiers, sailors and marines. These Marines protect his very existence "so people like you can enjoy their freedom."Further said that the reason there were so many in the courtroom and so much public interest is that the Marines have a tradition since 1775 that "No Marine gets left behind." Several Hoorahs in the courtroom. (yeah, Baby!!)

And then the deal was done, and he was taken away by the sheriffs to be released later.

So, I guess it just goes to show you that a little blogging goes a long way. It got some big notice and more importantly, the good triumphed over evil. I don't  care that this lawyer experienced some difficult times. Does this exempt him from doing the right thing? XXXXX! That is like the poor in New Orleans looting because they "deserved something good" for a change. Please, spare me.  Right is right and when you make your bed, you lie in it.

The Revelation

Author's Note: Sometimes we write from the heart, compelled often times by the people or the events we have encountered. This is raw and heartfelt. I changed nothing. If the flow seems nuts, it probably is. It is a revelation none the less.

                                     Who knew?

There are times when a revelation will suddenly hit me. Now is one of those times. It seems another soldier has left our midst. I didn’t know him personally,but I read his blog as a lurker and because Blackfive mentioned it many times. Andrew Olmsted was serving in Iraq. He died on patrol after an ambush. He left behind a letter.
 
I, and many others have read this letter because he asked a friend to put it on his blogin the event of his death.

I was humbled by the grief of his family and friends. But what a great person to have known! Just follow the links below. I was moved by my perception that he did not fear death.

The revelation?

I do fear death. Is that a good thing? Or does it just mean I know I have more to accomplish and I am lucky to be able to do it because there are those braver than I? Am I a loser for knowing I could make the sacrifice and chose not to? Does it mean I don’t know who I am? I don't know.  Maybe some background will help.

As many of the TH peeps in my blog creeps who know me, I wanted to re-enlist because I felt that I could make a difference, just give back a little more to the Country and all I have been fortunate to see, do ,and be. Just that soldier/patriot thing in me, screaming to get out and put all that Army training to work maybe? I went several times to a recruiter after 9/11. They were not making any exceptions. I tried again last year after I read that they offered age waivers. I did everything necessary in order to sign on the line, and solemnly swear to support and defend. In the end, as a mother, wife, I could not do it.

Fear was my blocker. It was not fear of OCS or branch school, nope. It was not fear of being in Iraq. I love helping people and it would have been a pleasure to make a difference there.

After reading Andrew Olmsted’s Final Post, I knew what it was. The light bulb came on. It was merely the idea that the chances of an early death would prevent me from being a part of all the important moments in my immediate life. My children, my husband, the rest of the family. You name it. I had all the support from my husband I could ever ask for. Those closest to me know that my only regret in life is that I left the military. I “found” me while the in the service. It paved the way for the wonderful life I have with no other true regrets. (unless you count the non-existent child # 5!!) Just yesterday, my 8 yo said to me, “ Hey Mom, did you know that our family will never end? ‘Cause Gramma had a kid, you had kids, and we’ll have kids. Technically, we’ll never end, unless the earth dies first.” I got to hear it firsthand. I guess as determined as I thought I was to do the Military again, I want to be in as many of those moments as possible.

I know that we all make our choices, and the point is to be happy about what we choose. The Major was happy in his choice and I, with better understanding of that through him, understand now why I could not make that choice again. I wanted to be HERE! I was simply afraid to give control of myself to anyone but me. I could make the choice to drink and drive and kill myself or another. But I would not be given any choice should I miss the suicide bomber, or the IED trip that could waste me. Sorry for the visual, but, it does get the point across…

He was a very eloquent writer. We all like to think we have an impact when we voice our opinions, don’t we? He did and he IS impacting others.

I have more control than not at the moment and I know death can happen any time. Though I can be naïve, I know this.

I still fear death and dying, but I am so glad Andrew didn’t. May his family find solace in all that he has done before, and now, after. I believe there is closure in a dead person leaving behind the words that he did. And, I am betting there are more letters to his family forthcoming that will give them comfort in the days and weeks ahead.


“Well, it’s not how you’re buried, it’s how you’re remembered.”

And, he will be remembered without a doubt.

A Marine needs back-up...ASAP!!

Anti-Military Lawyer Needs an Attitude Adjustment

UPDATE: Marine McNulty was in court at the prescribed hour. Attorney tried to use whatever "tricks" he had up his sleeve. Including showing up late, claiming he made a wrong turn,yada, yada and then asking for a continuance.  The judge issued a warrant for the attorney's arrest. And, apparrently a new State's Attorney has decided to pursue the felony charge a bit more vigorously than the one who was trying to use coercive tactics. 
Over at B5, some commenters have said that the Grodner's points of Contact and websites seem to all be disconnected or disabled!! Freaking wimp!  At any rate, the next court date is for 18January08. Once again, someone is wrong, been called on it and can't see his way to do the right thing. There is a Marine who needs our help ASAP!! This ought to make your blood boil.  And this Marine should receive a commendation for not kicking the living crap out of the guy...seriously.

Marine Sgt Mike McNulty is on activation orders to Iraq (second tour).  On December 1st, 2007, Mike went to visit a friend in Chicago before deploying to say goodbye.  In order to get to his friend's residence, and keep in mind that Chicago is a myriad of diagonal and one-way streets, the front entrance (right way) to the one-way street was blocked.  Mike, being a Marine, overcame and adapted by driving around the block to the other end of the street and backing up all the way to his friend's place. 

While saying goodbye, at about 11am, he noticed a man leaning up against his car. Mike left his friend's apartment and caught the man keying his car on multiple sides.

After caught in the process, the man told Mike, "you think you can do whatever you want with Department of Defense license plates and tags".  (In Illinois you can purchase veteran, Marine, or medal plates.  Mike has Illinois Marine Corps license plates.)  During the exchange, he made additional anti-military comments.

Mike called the Chicago police and had the man arrested. A citation against the man was issued for misdemeanor criminal damage to private property.

The police report (and I have copies if needed) states:

Victim related to P/O that as he walked back to his vehicle, he observed the offender leaning up against his vehicle and rubbed/dragged his left arm and hand across the passenger side.  As offender walked away from victim's vehicle, victim observed a scratch along the rear trunk and passenger's door area where offender dragged his arm and hand over.  Victim and witness stopped offender and confronted him.  Victim has military plates and decals on his vehicle and offender made anti war and military comments to victim.  Upon P/O's arrival to scene, offender denied scratch victim's vehicle, but did admit to rubbing past it.  Victim at this time did not sign complaint, because he is leaving tour for military duty.  Offender said they accused him of scratching the car because he is Jewish.  Offender's statements/responses to P/O's questions unreasonable.      

As it turns out, the man is Chicago lawyer Jay R. Grodner, who owns a law firm in the city and has offices in the suburbs.

After sending the car to the body shop, it was determined there is $2400 in damage, making this a felony. Mike went to court Friday morning to collect the damages against Mr. Grodner and file felony charges. Though the damages are over $300 (the amount which determines felony or misdemeanor) Grodner offered Mike to pay his deductible, $100, and have Mike's insurance pay for it.

The Illinois States Attorneys tried to coerce Mike into accepting the offer. Appalled, Mike said he wanted this to be a felony. The state told Mike that it was not worth pursuing felony damage against Grodner because they don't have the time. In addition, the state prosecutors told him that he would never recover the damages from Grodner because he is a lawyer.

Instead, the State asked Mike if he would accept probation for Grodner. Mike accepted, probation was offered to Grodner, and Grodner declined the offer, saying within ear shot of Mike, "I'm not going to make it easy on this kid". Mike's next court date is tomorrow, Monday, December 31st, to pursue misdemeanor charges against Grodner.

Mike's leave is over on January 2nd when he reports to Camp Pendleton before heading to Iraq.

Jay Grodner knows this and is going to file for a continuance until Mike is gone and cannot appear in court.

By account of the Illinois State's Attorneys, Grodner is likely to get away with defacing Mike's car with no penalty because, 1) Mike is about to deploy to Iraq and will not be available to appear in court, and 2) Grodner is a lawyer and can get out of this very easily.

So, does anyone have any ideas about how to proceed?  All peaceful and rational ideas are welcomed.  We are contacting the media about this, too.

I am following in the footsteps of Scottie over at the Heartland…I want to express my own heartfelt Christmas greetings to you all…I was inspired to blog because of wanting to be heard.

We all have our unique ways of telling I like it is…You know, GunnyG really lets it rip worse than myselfbut I love ya , man!!  Brian and Scottie have some very great perspectives to offer and I have learned from them. And, Pphil, I like yer style, too.

We women out here do tend to be a bit more expressive emotionally, me being the worst!! Pepp, gal, you are the least likely to be girly emotive, but always on it!

Fletch, man…You are still the economic God in my world. We have all missed you giving the good smackdowns to the dummies, though in your stead, I gave it a shot now and then.

I really feel like “our gang” of TH peeps rocks. And I have no doubt that if a “rise-up” is necessary, we would be one bad-asss MF team.

And Craw, I haven’t forgotten you…It was awesome to meet up with you at GOE3. I hope we can create a band of TH peeps who will continue to support the troops on the home front. I will do it forever, but having back-up is good…

Venting

Ode, I am venting!!!

I am sick. I went to the doctor where I was once an employee. Woo-hooo!!


It actually happened just like I said it would. The sory:
I was looking for a job for several months. A chance meeting put me in touch with someone who needed my skills. I interviewed and got the job. Upon accepting, I went to a friend who could help me refine my new position, because her business had all the latest and greatest technology. It was a Medical Family Practice. I wanted to see how they went about seeking accreditation for being able to run a lab in their office. When I contacted her regarding a visit to check things out, she said she was looking for someone to help them with their accreditation. Wow! What would be the chances of finding two positions that required the same knowledge?

I offered to the friend that if they were still looking for someone, I could forward my resume to the Office manager. Eventually, we met and I interviewed for the same kind of job that I had accepted at another practice. This job would be 6 minutes from home. When they offered it to me, I took it. It was an updated facility and dealt with patients of all ages. My job was to get the lab up to snuff for performing medium complexity lab tests. This would require writing SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) manuals and getting this office a new accreditation for running a piece of Hematology equipment that was shut down due to lack of performance and QC (Quality Control)….that, meaning that patient results prior to this were erroneous and they could have been potentially sued. The machine in question was not paid for, and had not been operational for 18 months. This would mean that I would have to learn everything about the machine to get it up to snuff. A Rep for the company came out and said it would probably take me three months before I could report patient results. Well, aside from the fact that I am a well-trained Army Tech, this was right up my alley. Not only did I the machine up and running in 3 weeks, my linearity test was superb. Viola! The office could now run Complete blood counts (aka CBC’s). And, did I mention pay for the machine?

I had a long way to go to get the proper SOP written, but the important thing was that I knew my shitt. There were other lab procedures that needed to be written as well and all the staff had to be aware of the hows and whys of doing each test. Everything had parameters to be met and these guys were not lab techs. I did my best to get all the information down into a trainable class for educating the staff. In taking on the job, I also had to learn triage, computer, EKG’s and some other stuff. No big deal to be able to keep the docs on schedule. Except, add to that OSHA requirements, ordering all the vaccines and the medical supplies for the office. I was on the go constantly. My rule of thumb was that if I were going to come in and make waves, I should do it in the first three months. So far, so good, right? I took the initiative to get as much info as possible to make the things I was responsible for expedient. I could not, however order anything without approval of the OM. I just constantly gathered stuff. Well, the OM didn’t like that. She didn’t like that she could not control my every move. I did everything she asked me to do. But when it came to the lab, she had no authority, because she didn’t understand what it took to do what I did. And, that dear readers, was my downfall. She fired me. I have to say in hindsight, that I believe she only hired me to get the machine up and knew she would can me. I loved this job and I was highly motivated and qualified. Crushed, when fired. Shitt happens. On with my vent.

In order for the practice to become accredited they had to enroll in a program. Each year, depending on the complexity, there are a battery of proficiency tests that must be passed in order for patient results to be reported. And, an inspection showing proper QC measures, SOP’s, training of the staff, etc. When OM fired me, she did not even consider that nobody else was properly trained. Nope. I was a threat to her, so I was outta there. I did my best to warn the CNP/owner that the staff and lack of knowledge would be their downfall come September when the proficiency tests came and the result might be that they would be shut down. I did not want one of the other LPN’s taking the heat for the mistakes that would surely be made and I said so. Alas, it finally happened. I have been vindicated. They shut down the machine and several other lab procedures. They failed to meet inspection regulations or to correct any of the prior infractions of the certificate they already had. That, ladies and gentleman was MY job. And I had written seven SOP’s in six weeks that I was employed there, gotten our Lab Director situated and taken on all that other stuff to boot. All the OM cared about was the way she looked and not how patient care was conducted. The LPN in my place is gone, but the OM still has her job. I can’t for the life of me figure out why…she sucks at her job. And, the excuse given to me upon termination was, ”The providers don’t feel you are a team player!” My translation was that the OM was intimidated by my level of efficiency and motivation. I had rarely worked with all four providers and the other staff were just as baffled as I. NC is an “at will” state, so there was nothing I could do about being fired. The only thing I can say is that they are doing themselves a disservice keeping this OM on. They are losing money on a machine that is not paid for and they could do a whole lot more. The potential there is endless. But the docs have no time for business, you see. Hence, the OM can lie about my lack of cohesive work habits an fire me. No matter.

Wreaths At Arlington

Volunteers Wanted!!!

DC Protest Warrior Chapter is looking for folks to volunteer to help lay the holiday wreaths at all the grave sites of our fallen soldiers at Arlington. I am not sure of the process, but I am sure if you show up, your time will be put to good use!

There are some 10K wreaths to be laid at Arlington, and 4k more to be used in ceremonies in all 50 states. All of the wreaths are being donated by the Worcester Wreath Company. For next year, you can sponsor a wreath if you like…click on the link below and check out sponsorship.

Eagles Soaring Again September 15th.

As many patriots( yes, I distinguish us from the America Haters, even if they won’t admit it, yet) know, the Gathering of Eagles is preparing to descend on Washington, DC for their third event. Yes, the anti groups and blog sites are out in full force with their anti-American, anti-mission, anti-surge tripe just in time for General Petraeus’ visit to Washington to report on his success.

The anti groups are armed with yet more threats to denigrate the Memorials of the fallen and spit on those who still fight for their freedoms (whether they agree with it or not, this is the case.) They have already defaced a Navy Memorial with paint and a pink hat.

You know as Eagles, we are not letting that happen on our watch.

The Eagles have the support of many other groups. Rolling Thunder, Military Order of the Purple Hearts, Vets For Freedom, Move America Forward, Free Republic, and I believe the Patriot Guard. We all support the troops and their mission. We know the surge is working because the right man is on the job.

Remember-- anywhere, anytime, any weather. (Can I get a hell yeah and a hoo-ah,ooh-rah, or a hooyah...that's what I'm talkin' about!!)

We do not have any corporate sponsors that I know of…it is all individually sponsored by those that call themselves patriots, Eagles. How cool is that? Our beliefs and the hard work of all involved are what got us to this point. We stood and we will stand to show our appreciation and support for the Freedoms and liberties being kept safe for us by Them! Them, the Airmen, Seabees, Marines and the Soldiers. Them, the SEALs, Rangers, Special Forces. All of those who answer the call voluntarily and THEM, who make the ultimate sacrifice. We need the boots to be on the ground. Forget giving money. Those people are mere pisss-ants, in the immortal words of Mary Ellen Walton. They do not understand that we, the Eagles, supporters of the US Military and The United States of America know that commitment is what it takes to keep this Country and our fighting men and women on top. We are not about to let them give it away at any cost. No way. As a matter of fact, I received a thank- you from an Eagle’s brother…maybe the lefties who lurk at my site will see the effect we have on the troops…Read it below.

It's not Spanish....

Some of you have probably been going the TH blogs daily columns by "Us little peeps" and seen the one that has been written in what you thought was spanish...It is Infomix, by Christina- whom I do not know.  Her blog is written in Portuguese

In all fairness, I was annoyed to find a completely spanish blog on TH. And, I read other people's sites who were angry about the language.  If you want to be here as an emigre, then it is safe to say, you are going to learn Englsih. Nobody is asking one to give up their mother tongue, but I do expect that english becomes a primary method of communication,written and verbal. It's not so tough, really.  Try it.
I have learned german, dutch, french because I do travel. I know that other countries speak english as a second language, but it is a courtesy  to know enough to get around so  I do effectively assimilate.( I don't expect them to know english, they just do). 

I did my best to read and try to get the message, but in the end, I sent it to my friend for translating. She said that it is mostly to do with a movement in Brazil called "Cansei". GOOD NEWS FROM IRAQ!!

 Here is some GOOD NEWS not reported by any of the lame MSM. Michael Yon tells it like he actually witnesses it. Despite the attempts of the MSM, There is plenty of good news to be had in Iraq. Negativity is what they are best at, but Yon uses great objectivity to report things. This is an excerpt from a column published in the New York daily News.

Anyone who says Al Qaeda is not one of the primary problems in Iraq is simply ignorant of the facts.

I, like everyone else, will have to wait for September's report from Gen. Petraeus before making more definitive judgments. But I know for certain that three things are different in Iraq now from any other time I've seen it.

1. Iraqis are uniting across sectarian lines to drive Al Qaeda in all its disguises out of Iraq, and they are empowered by the success they are having, each one creating a ripple effect of active citizenship.

2. The Iraqi Army is much more capable now than it was in 2005. It is not ready to go it alone, but if we keep working, that day will come.

3. Gen. Petraeus is running the show. Petraeus may well prove to be to counterinsurgency warfare what Patton was to tank battles with Rommel, or what Churchill was to the Nazis.

And yes, in case there is any room for question, Al Qaeda still is a serious problem in Iraq,one that can be defeated. Until we do, real and lasting security will elude both the Iraqis and us.(SO, Let's change the ROE and Kicks ome more AQ ASSS!)
